2013 is a year to start anew.
I began my 2013 in hospital, recovering from a cardiac surgery which saved my life. After a four-month long sick leave, I thought it was probably time for me to leave my job at the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and move on.
I started running my own agency after I felt better. Apart from some translation and editorial work that I have been doing for ages, by chance the inaugural Russian Film Festival in Hong Kong also commissioned my company for the media relations. From then on I also did some PR work for book launches and an art exhibition.
From July I took up the appointment as Executive Director of the Hong Kong International Photo Festival. I led a small team to organise “300 Families” exhibition and also a series of concurrent events under the umbrella of “HKIPF Flare 2013” . Looking back I might be a bit too ambitious in taking up this appointment as these two projects indeed required some one physically fitter than I was. But anyway, they were done and I survived. However I have already decided to change the mode I work with this Festival in 2014.
Looking ahead into 2014, I have no idea what opportunities and challenges are there awaiting, but I feel I am ready for them.
I wish you the same. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
